1. REINFORCED FLIGHT COMPARTMENT DOOR <0093><FAA> The reinforcedflight compartmentdooris madetoenhance the security, protectfrom ballistic
threatandpreventunauthorized access to theflight compartment.Thedooris madefrom Nomex core panels, sandwichedin themiddle with abulletproofinsert. The doorconsistsof: W Slide latch W Deadbolt assembly W Two quick-
release hingepins W Viewer W Decompression panelandlatch The slide latchis usedtolatchandunlatchthedoor. The deadbolt assemblyis usedforadded securitytolock/unlockthedoor. Akeyis required
tolock/unlockthedoorfrom thepassenger compartment. To lock/unlockthedoorfromthe flight compartment,thedeadboltis manually rotated.
The two quick-
release hingepins are usedto remove thedoor.
The viewer hastwo lenses (in a 1.5 “thickplug)toincrease the magnification forfieldof
view andtoprovide bullet resistance.
The decompression panelis held on thedoorbydecompression latches. Whenthe pressure differentialbetween thepassenger cabin and flight compartmentis more thana presetlimit, thelatch releases thepaneltoequalize thepressure between thetwo compartments.
A. Emergency Operation
The following steps are usedto remove thedoorin anemergencyifthelatchhasfailed orthedoorhasjammed. From theflight compartment,

Unlockandliftthelower hingepin
(2)
Unlockandpulldown on theupperhingepin
(3)
Kickthehinged sideofthedoortowards the cabin
(4)
Whenthedooris free, rotateit clockwise andstowitagainstthegalleybulkhead.

Thelowerhingepinmustbereleasedbeforetheupper hinge pin. Failure to do so could result in the door suddenlycomingdisengagedfromthehingescausing injurytopersons.
NOTE
Inthe eventthatacrewmemberbecomes trappedin theflightcompartmentorbecomesincapacitated, the doorcan be openedusing acrow baroraxe.
