APU fuel SOV closes. -
APU bleed air LCV closes.  ON  ON  OUT 
4  BOTTLE ARMED PUSH TO DISCH is pressed in.  --APU squib fires. -
FIREX agent discharges into the APU enclosure.  ON  ON  OUT 
5  APU bottle fully discharges.  -
Pressure switch on bottle opens as pressure drops below 225 to 275 psi. -
APU BTL LO is displayed on EICAS.  OUT  OUT  OUT 

E. Cargo Compartment
The cargo smoke detection system consists oftwo opticaltype smoke detectors (NORMAL andSTANDBY)locatedin the ceiling ofthe cargo compartment. Both smoke detectors are protectedfrom damageby asteel cage. Eachdetectoris capable ofproducing an alarm signal within an establishedtime frame andsmoke concentration level. The detectors are positionedto avoidfalse alarms with overlapping coverageto guardagainstthefailure ofone detector. When smoke is detectedby oneorboth detectors, air flow into andoutofthe cargo compartmentis shutoffto isolate the compartment. ASMOKECARGO warning messageis displayed on theEICASprimary page,a SMOKE aural warningis generatedand bothCARGOSMOKEPUSH (cover-
guarded) switchlightsilluminate on the CARGOFIREXpanel.

NOTE
Operationofmobiletransceiversincloseproximityto the smoke detectors or exhaust fumes from ground handlingequipment may cause afalse alarm.
Fire extinguishingfor thecargo compartmentis providedbytwo FIREXbottles, ahigh ratedischargebottle andalow ratedischargebottle. Bothbottles are locatedin theaft equipment compartment,and are pressurized with extinguishingagent(Halon). Each bottle hasafiring cartridge withtwo squibs, usedto dischargetheHalon intothe cargo compartment. Eachbottle hasalowpressure switchand apressure gauge. When eitherBOTTLEARMEDPUSHTODISCHARGEDISCH switchlightis pushed,both bottles willdischarge simultaneously. Thehigh ratedischargebottle is designedto quicklydeliverextinguishingagentintothe cargo compartmentforinitialfire suppression. The lowratedischargebottle discharges slowly, maintaining aflow of extinguishingagentintothe cargo compartment(over a30minuteperiod)toprevent re-ignition andallow for aircraftdiversion. Ifeitherbottle pressure decrease to apreset point,thepressure switchopens, andaCARGOBTLLO caution message willbe displayed on theEICASprimarypage.
