A. Flight Director
The flightdirector provides visualguidance,by means ofcommandbars on theattitude director indicator(ADI), to flythe aircraft manually ortovisually monitorautopilot response to theguidance commands. The visualguidance commands(pitchand roll control)are integrated withtheAFCS modes, selected on theflight controlpanel, for autopilotoperation. AFCSoperating modes can be selectedto theflightdirectors with theautopilotdisengaged. Pitch(including speed control)and rollguidance cues from theAFCS are displayed on theADIportion ofthePFD’s.
The flightdirectorsystem provides commandsto performthe following:
W Hold adesired attitude
W Maintain a pressure altitude
W Hold avertical speed
W Hold aMach number orindicated airspeed
W Capture andmaintain apreselectedbarometric-correctedaltitude W Capture andtrack apreselectedheading
