In the event of a complete ACpowerfailure in flight, the ADGwill automaticallydeploy andsupply115-
volts, 400Hz ACemergencypower totheADGbus. TheADG generatoris rated at15KVA. TheADGbuswillthen supply emergencypowertothe AC essentialbus andthe 3Bhydraulicpump. The ACessentialbus willthen power essentialTRU1, whichwillpower the DC essentialbus.
Iftheautomatic deployfunction fails, theADG can bedeployed manuallybypullingthe ADG manual release handle on theADGCONTROL controlpanelatthe rearofthe centerconsole.
Ifeithermain generatoris restored,the crewcan overridetheADGbypressingthe PWRTXFROVERRIDEbutton on theADG controlpanel. This willreconnectthe restoredIDGto power ACbus 1, ACbus 2andthe AC essentialbus. The ADGwill continue to power the criticalflight controls andthe ADGbus. The flaps willmove at half speed whenpoweredfrom theADGbus.
The ADGgenerator, voltage,frequencyandADGbusindications on theEICAS,AC ELECTRICAL synoptic page are onlydisplayed whentheADGbusis powered.
The ADGwill continue to operateand supplypowertotheADGbusuntilthe airspeed decreases belowapproximately100kts. Atthatpoint,iftheAPUgenerator orIDGhas notbeen restored,theonlypower available willbe from the batteries.
The ADG cannotbe restowedin flight. Itis restowed manually, on theground,by maintenance personnel.
NOTE
After ADG deployment or APU generator switching, intermittent failure of the pilot’s and copilot’s air data systems may occur. These failures may result in uncommandedchangestothepilot’sorcopilot’sflight instruments.Thebarometricaltimetersetting,altitude preselector,V-
speedsandspeedbugsettingsshould becheckedand reset as required.
