1. MAINTENANCE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
The maintenancediagnostic systemisusedby maintenance personneltoview currentand historicalinformation relatingtospecific aircraftsystemshealthandoperation.
The systemusesamaintenancediagnostic computer(MDC)to process andrecord avionics andaircraftsystems dataforfuture retrieval. A maintenance switch,locatedbehindthe pilot’s seat,is usedto enterthe maintenance diagnostics mode. The multifunctionaldisplays (MFD’s) are usedto displaythe maintenance dataandtheEICAS controlpanelis usedto controland selectinformation ontheMFDdisplay. Statusandfunction information forall aircraftLine Replaceable Units(LRU’s)is displayedin coded words usingdifferent numberingsystems(binary, octalandhexadecimal). Maintenance personnel useadata dictionaryto decodethedisplayedinformation.
Adataloaderunitis usedto upload ordownloaddatato or from afloppydisk.
Whenthe maintenance switchis setto MFD1 or MFD2,theapplicable MFDis configuredto display maintenance relateddisplaypagesandthe respective DisplayControlPanel(DCP) is configured asamaintenance pagecontrolpanel. Thefirstpagedisplayedwillbe the MAINTENANCEMENUpage.
