1. FUEL QUANTITY GAUGING SYSTEM
The fuelsystemcomputer(FSC) monitors information fromfuelprobesin eachtankto calculatethefuelquantity.
Fuelquantityis measured using fuelprobes, whichprovide signals directlyproportionalto fuellevelto theFSC. There are 6probesin each wingtankand3in the centre tank. A compensatorprobein each wingtank supplies datato theFSCto computefueldensity corrections.
Fuelquantitygaugingis calibratedfor bothgroundandflightoperations bythethe computer which receives weight-on-wheel signals from theproximity sensing electronic unit(PSEU). Inflight,the computertakes into accountthe effectsof wingdeflection andaircraftattitude onthefuelquantity measurement.
Correctedindividualtankquantities, totalfuelquantity, fuelusedquantityandfuel temperature are displayed on theEngine Indication andCrew AlertingSystem(EICAS) as well asanyfaultdetectedin thefuelquantitygauging computer.
The FUELUSEDindication ontheFUEL synoptic pagecan be resetto zero through the EICAS menu page.
The FUELUSEDindication ontheFUEL synoptic pagecan be resetto zero through the FMS,ACTPERFINITpage. IftheFMSis failed ornotavailable,theFUELUSEDindication can be resetto zero through theEICAS menu page.<0039>
The temperature ofthefuelis continuously monitoredby afueltemperature sensor installed in theleft wingtank. The sensor supplies afueltemperature signaltotheEICASfordisplay ontheFUEL synoptic page.
