tocontrolwheelinputs, Mach numberandflapposition. Roll assistis usedtoimprove lateral
control oftheaircraftatlow airspeeds.
Proportionalliftdumpingis providedin flightby symmetric deploymentoftheflight spoilers.
Deploymentis relative totheposition oftheflight spoiler controllever. Proportionallift
dumpingis used for speed controlandto stabilize the aircraft on the glide path or during
rapiddescents.
The ground spoilers provide groundliftdumpingfunction only. Groundliftdumpingis used
toassistin aircraftbraking on thegroundbyfulldeploymentofthe spoilerons, flight spoilers
andtheground spoilers Groundliftdumpingis normallyautomatic butcan be manually
controlledbytheGND/LIFTDUMPING switch onthecenterpedestal. Automatic
deploymentis triggered onthebasis of:
W Thrustlever position
W Engine N1 signals
W Radio altitude
W Wheel speedfrom theanti-
skid controlunit(ASCU)
W PSEUweight-on-wheels conditions.
Effectivity:
W Airplanes 7002,7003 to7066and subsequent.
NOTE
On the ground, the IB, OB GND SPLR FAULT status message(s) can be cleared by deploying/retracting the ground spoilers with all hydraulicsystems powered.

The spoiler groundliftdumping(GLD) circuits mustbe armedbefore deployment can take place. The GLDsystemis armed eitherautomatically ormanually. Afterlanding ora rejectedtakeoff,theGLD spoilers automatically retract. During atouch-
and-
go,theGLD spoilers willdeploy whenalldeploymentparameters are met. Advancingthethrustlevers for takeoff retractsthe spoilers and rearmsthe system.

W Lor Rengine >79%N1 or thrustlevers >takeoffpower, and
W Wheel speed>45kts.

Manual arming
W Spoiler control switchinthe MANARMposition.
