The primaryflight controls consist of:
W Ailerons (roll control)
W Spoilerons (roll assist)
W Elevators (pitch control)
W Rudder(yaw control)
W Multifunctional spoilers.
The secondaryflight controls consist of:
W Flaps(inboardandoutboard)
W Aileron trim
W Ruddertrim
W Horizontalstabilizer trim
W Flight spoilers
W Ground spoilers (inboardandoutboard).
Lateral(roll)controloftheaircraftis providedbythe ailerons, assistedbythe spoilerons.
Directional(yaw)controloftheaircraftis providedbythe rudder, assistedbyyaw dampers.
Longitudinal(pitch) control oftheaircraftis providedbythe elevators, assistedby a

moveable horizontal stabilizer.

The primaryflight controls are controlledby anetworkof cables, pulleys, push/pull rodsand levers thattransmit controlandpedalinputsto hydraulic power controlunits. Each aileron andspoileron is poweredbytwo hydraulic systems. The rudderandelevators are power from allthree hydraulicsystems.
The aileron andelevator controls are equipped with controldisconnects whichpermitthe pilot or the copilotto maintain sufficientlateralandlongitudinal controlin the eventof a controljam. The rudder controlis equipped withtwo anti-jammechanisms thatpermitboth pilotsto maintain sufficientdirectional control, however, additionalforce is requiredto obtain surface travel.
In the event of a total electricalpower failure, the primaryflight controlswill remainpowered from AC motor pump(ACMP)3B whichwillbe powered bythe ADGin an emergency.
The flight spoilers providesthe aircraft withliftdumpingand speed control as commanded fromthespoiler controllever in theflight compartment.
The ground spoilers onlydeploy onthe ground aspart ofthegroundliftdumpingfunction to slow theaircraftduringlanding. The spoilerons andflight spoilers also deploy ontheground toassistin thegroundliftdumpingfunction.
Flight control statusand surface positions are displayed ontheEICASprimarypage, status pageandFLTCONTROL synoptic page.
Astallprotection system is providedto warn theflight crew ofanimpending stallwhenthe aircraftattitudeapproaches ahighangle-
of-
attack(AOA)andtoprevent astallpenetration whenthe aircraft nears the computed stallangle.
Hydraulic power distribution to theflight controls is asfollows:
