1. STALL PROTECTION SYSTEM
The purpose ofthe stallprotection systemistoprovide warningof animpending stall when theaircraft attitudeapproaches ahighangle-
of-
attack(AOA)andtoprevent stall penetration whenthe aircraft nears the computedstallangle. The systemalertstheflight crew bymeans ofvisual, aural, andfeel(stick shaker)indications. If no corrective action is taken,thesystemactivatesthe stickpusher mechanismtopreventthe aircraftfromentering astall.
The stickpusher mechanismis armedby selectingthepilot’s andcopilot’s STALLPTCT pusher switches.
NOTE
BoththepilotandcopilotSTALLPTCTswitchesmust be selected ON to arm the stick pusher system. Selecting either switch OFFdisables the system.
Angle of attack vanes located on each side oftheforwardfuselage measure theaircraft attitudein relation tothe ambientairstream. The stallprotection computer(SPC) uses the AOAinformation andairspeedto computethe stallangle trippoints.
Whenthe aircraftapproaches ahighAOA,the stallprotection computerwillactivate the engines auto-ignition system. IftheAOA continues toincrease,the stickshakerisactivated andtheautopilotis disengaged.
Iftheangle of attack still continues toapproachthe criticalstallpoint,the stickpusheris activated,theSTALL switchlightsflash red,andthe warbler sounds. The stickpusherthen pushesthe control column forwardtogive theaircraft apitchdown attitude. Inthe eventof anAOArateincrease greaterthan1degree persecond,theSPClowers the AOAtrippoint topreventthe aircraftpitching momentumfrom carryingitthrough the stall warning/stick pusher sequence intothe stall.
The stickpusher can be stoppedbypressingandholdingtheAP/SPDISC switch onthe pilot’s andcopilot’s control wheel.
