Any person who occupies or aspires to a management position in a company involved with business aviation can participate in the PDP program. Since the PDP series was launched in 1998, there have been over 5,000 course completions.
For business aviation managers interested in documenting the knowledge and skills they have gained through their education, training and industry experience, NBAA offers a certification process. The Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) designation has been given to individuals who have met specified qualifications and passed the CAM exam. In the one-year period between September 2008 and September 2009, a record 30 individuals earned the CAM designation.

Meanwhile, NBAA’s On-Demand Education (ODE) program continues to grow. More than 100 topics are available in the learning portal, which is organized into seven educational tracks. The Association’s education catalog includes 20 packages on CD-ROM, in podcast format or available via streaming video. In addition to recording in-person events, the ODE program offers live, interactive webinars, including presentations on such current topics as pandemic planning.

Several new educational opportunities were offered at NBAA2009, most notably the inaugural Light Business Air-plane (LBA) Conference, which attracted a large number of entrepreneurs who rely on general aviation airplanes to help their businesses succeed.
During the Convention, NBAA and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) signed a memorandum of un-derstanding to co-host two LBA Conferences in 2010, thus making the events more accessible to owner-pilots and other businesspeople using light business airplanes. The first 2010 LBA Conference will take place in conjunction with NBAA’s 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, GA, from October 19 to 21. The second will be held as part of the AOPA Aviation Summit in Long Beach, CA, from November 11 to 13.
Other new education sessions offered at NBAA2009 includ-ed a panel on social media, courses on making the business case for business aviation, and a seminar on doing business in China. The latter session underscored how NBAA’s Con-vention is designed to appeal to global operators.
