1. INTRODUCTION
The communications systemconsists ofthe following

Two radio tuningunits are usedto frequencytune theradios. Aback-up standbytuningunit is providedin theeventof afailure ofoneofthe radio tuningunits. Theaudio integrating systemreceives inputsfromthe radios andtheintercom/interphonesystems. The system thenprovidesaudio outputtotheflight crewspeakers, headsets, passengeraddress system, communication radios and recorders. Allincoming, outgoing andinternal communications are recorded onthecockpit voice recorder.
The flight crewintercomsystem permits communications between stations within the aircraft, selection andmonitoringofaudio on the communications andnavigation receivers, and selection for transmission onthecommunications transceivers. The flight crew can select andmonitortheaudio outputof oneormore communications transceivers andnavigation receivers.
Individual speakers, installedabove thepilotand copilot, are usedto monitoraudio selected attheaudio controlpanels. Hand microphonejacks are installed atthe rearofeach control column. Headsetjacks are installedbelowthepilot’s andcopilot’s side consoles andthe right sideoftheobserver’s station.
The service interphonesystemprovidesintercommunication between service and maintenance areas andtheflight compartment. The service interphoneandpassenger address systems are interconnected. The flightattendants use theirtelephone-type handsetsfor bothsystems. Onehandsetis located on each attendant’s panel. Switches located on theinterphone controlpanelin theflight compartment centre pedestal, access theexternal maintenance interphone stations andflightattendant’s handsets.
