1. AUDIO INTEGRATING SYSTEM
The audio integratingsystemprovidesdisplay, switchingandcontrol of allincomingand outgoingaudio signals fromtheaircraftnavigation andcommunication systems. The audio integratingsystemreceives inputsfrom various radio sources andfrom internallygenerated audio systems. The systemprovidesaudio outputtotheflight crewspeakers,headsets, passengeraddress system, communication radios andtothe cockpitvoice recorder.
A. Audio Control Panels
Three audio controlpanels, locatedin the centre pedestal, provide theprimaryinterface between flight crew andaudio system. Eachaudio controlpanelprovides arotary transmit switchforselection ofcommunication transceivers, interphone/service and passengeraddress systems.
Audio from the selectedsystemisenabledbypressingthe correspondingpushbutton andadjustingthedesired volume. A switchand apotentiometerare combinedin each pushbutton. Audio sources selected on theaudio controlpanel can be routedtothe flight compartment speakers bypressingin thespeakerswitch. Speaker volume is controlledby rotatingthe speaker control.
Aradio transmit(R/T)andintercom(I/C) switchis usedtotransmit on the radios or passengeraddress system. TheR/Tposition, whenpressed,allows thepilotto transmit. When released,it returns to theOFFposition,to receive. Continuous (“hot mike”)conversation isprovidedinthe I/Cposition forthe intercomsystems. A radio transmit(R/T)andintercom(I/C) switchis also provided oneachpilot control wheel.
