C. Attendant’s Handset
Switches ontheattendant’s handset cradle andontheintercomcontrolpanel, in the flight compartment, are usedforrouting communications tothe crewandpassengers. Onthehandset cradle,theATTbutton signals bothattendant stations byilluminating theATTindicators green. To calltheflight crew, theattendant removes thehandset fromthehookandpresses theFLT or theEMGbutton.This willilluminate the CALL or EMERlight ontheintercom controlpaneland sound ahigh-low chime ontheflight compartment speakers. WhenPAis selected ontheintercom controlpanel, andthe RT/IC switch, on the controlwheel, is settoIC, two-way conversation is established. The galley speakeris muted when aflightattendant’s handsetis activated.

D. Passenger Address System
The passengeraddress systemallowsbothpilotsandflightattendantsto make announcementsto thepassengers.
Cabin speakers are installedin thepassengerservice unitabove eachpassenger seat. Additional speakers are installedin thelavatoryandthegalley. Volume ofthe cabin speakers is automaticallyadjustedfor engine backgroundnoise.
Pressingin thePAbutton on thehandset cradle andpressingthePTT switchin the handsetallows eitherflightattendantto make an announcement onthePAsystem. The announcementwillinterrupt any entertainmentsystem that maybe operating. To ensure priority access tothesystem, allotherPAtransmissions are overridden when thepilotpushesthePA switch ontheintercomcontrolpanel.
