1. PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM
The aircraftis pressurizedbybleedair suppliedbytheair-conditioningsystem. Cabin pressure is normally controlledby regulating cabin air overboardthroughtwo outflow valves located on the rear pressure bulkhead. The outflow valves are automatically controlledby eitheroftwo independent cabin pressure controllers. Thepressurization is almosttotally automatic, the crew onlyhasto setthe landingfield elevation, ontheCABINPRESS control panel, to programthe systemforflight. Ifthe normalautomatic modefails, theoutflow valves can be controlled manuallyby controls ontheCABINPRESS controlpanel. Both valves also operate as safety valves to provide overpressure andnegative pressure relief. If cabin altitudeexceeds14,000feet, a signalis sentto the passengeroxygensystemto deploythe oxygen masks. A cabin pressure acquisition module (CPAM)is usedin the systemto supply signals to theEICAS.
