C. Ram Air Ventilation
The cooling air fortheleftand rightheat exchangers is suppliedfromaramairintake, located on theupperaftfuselage. During normaloperation,the ramairis exhausted through anexhaustductin theloweraftfuselage,afterpassing over theheat exchangers. The ram air intakeduct also providescooling airtothehydraulic systems heatexchangerto coolthehydraulic fluid.(RefertoChapter14).
Ram air ventilation is usedonly whenthe air conditioningpacks fail(unpressurized). Operatingthe(guarded)RAMAIR, switchlight ontheair-
conditioningpanel, opensthe normally closed ram air valve. Ram air thenenters theleft(flight compartment) supply system. Ram air also flows throughthedistribution manifoldtothepassenger compartment.
D. Conditioned Air Distribution
Conditionedair, from theleftand rightair-conditioningpacks,is routedthrough separateductingsystemsthrough adistribution manifoldtotheflight compartmentand thepassenger compartments.
Conditionedair, tothepassenger compartment,is distributedfrom ductsalong each sideofthe aircraft. Passenger compartment exhaust airis routedunderfloor tothe outflow valves ontheaftpressure bulkhead.
Conditionedair, to theflight compartment,is distributedtothe side console panels, gaspers andvents, andavionics units within theinstrumentpanel. Dedicatedfans and ductsdirect conditionedair over theflight compartmentdisplayunits. Flight compartment exhaust air is routedunderfloorthroughthe avionics compartmenttothe outflowvalve attheaftpressure bulkhead.
