1. AIR-
CONDITIONING SYSTEM
There are two air-conditioning systems, which can beoperatedseparately orin parallel, to supply conditionedair to the flightandpassenger compartments. Eachsystemconsistsof anair-conditioningunit orpackage(PACK), atemperature controller andducting. Ramairis providedforpack coolingand ventilation. The temperature controllers also controlthe engine 10thstagebleedairsupplyto thesystem (see Chapter19).

A. Packs
The packs are locatedin theaftequipment compartment.Theyprovide cooling ofthe engine orAPUbleedair supplies for distribution to theflightandpassenger compartments. 10th stagebleedair to eachpackis regulatedto aconstant30psiby respective pressure regulatorand shutoff valves (PRSOV). Forsingle packoperation, the PRSOVwill regulatethepressure to41psi. Eachpack consistsof anaircycle machine andheat exchangerwhich are usedtodecrease thetemperature and water contentofthebleedairusedin the conditioningprocess. Normally, the rightpack supplies thepassengercompartmentandtheleftpack supplies theflight compartment. Ifapackfails, the remainingpack can supply conditionedair to bothcompartments.
