1. CARGO COMPARTMENT AIR SYSTEM
The cargo compartment airsystem allows the flight crew tocontrolthe ventilation air within the cargo compartment. The systemconsists of arecirculation airshut-
off valve, recirculation fan andanexhaust air shut-

The cargo compartmentconditionedair systemallowsthe flight crew tocontrolthe ventilation airandtemperature within the cargo compartment. The systemconsists of a recirculation airshut-
off valve, recirculation fan,heaterand anexhaust airshut-
off valve. <0013><0034>
The systemis controlledby a2-
position CARGO,OFF/FAN switch ontheair-conditioning panel. In theOFFposition,both shut-
off valves are closedandthesystemisdisabled.In theFANposition, both shut-
off valves openandthefan is poweredtoblow recirculated cabin air intothe cargo compartmentto maintain thecompartmenttemperature above freezing. <0043><0059>
The systemiscontrolledby aCARGO,3-
position, OFF/FAN/AIRCONDswitch on the air-conditioningpanel. In theOFFposition,both shut-
off valves are closedandthesystem is disabled.IntheFANposition, both shut-
off valves openandthe recirculation fanis poweredtoblowrecirculated cabin air intothe cargo compartmentto maintain the compartmenttemperature above freezing. IntheCONDAIRposition, both shut-
off valves are open,theheateris enabled andthe recirculation fanis poweredtoblow heatedair into thecargo compartment. Theheateris controlledby atemperature control switchin the exhaustduct whichwillcyclethe heaterONandOFF as necessaryto maintain thecargo compartmenttemperature between 21bCand27bC(70bFand80bF). <0013><0034>
Anoverheat switchin theexhaustductprovides overtemperature protection by removing power totheheater when the exhaustducttemperature exceeds49bC(120bF). A signalis also senttotheEICAStodisplay aCARGOOVHT caution message. The switchwill reset whenthetemperature decreases below 29bC(85bF). <0013><0034>
Aduct overheat switchis installedin theheateroutlet. Iftheheaterdischargetemperature exceeds49bC(120bF)power is removedfrom theheater. The switchwill reset when the temperature decreases below 38bC(104bF). <0013><0034>
