NEXRAD Weather Programs
ADR EFBs are capable of displaying NEXRAD Weather from either WSI or XM/WxWorx.
Both weather services rely on separate hardware devices including an antenna, receiver and connectivity to the host computer. Connectivity options depend on the type of hardware, certification level of the aircraft and desired functionality. As a general rule, wired connectivity is more trouble free than wireless transmission. Both have a program that is installed into the EFB and a moving map program that can be coupled to GPS. However, GPS is not required for the programs to be effective. ADR is very familiar with the offerings and can offer assistance on installation. We can only deliver the WSI system to your certified installer. Please call us for more information.
WSI Weather
WSI offers a certified unit that is installed in the aircraft and has provisions for mounting the receiver box either inside or outside the pressure vessel. The antenna must be mounted on top of the fuselage. The receiver runs on 28VDC and transmits serial RS232.
