How to access HyperTerminal
1. Open explorer, tapping the checkbox and then tapping the “continue” button if asked.
2. On the left side, tap the plus sign to the left of My Computer

5. On the left side, tap the WindowsNT folder (it will highlight blue)
6. On the right side, double tap the hypertrm.exe file
7. Type anything you wish for the Connection Description; for example, "1" will do fine
8. Tap the OK button
9. In the Connect Using dropdown box, select the appropriate Com (serial) port.
10. Tap the OK button
11. If your GPS is connected properly, you will see a raw data flow of information from your GPS.
Power Requirements
The computer utilizes 16 VDC (+/- 10%), 1.0 to 3.75 Amps max. Its normal operating range is approximately .75 to 2.10 Amps, depending on battery condition, brightness level and CPU operation. The fusing for the unit is 8 Amps. The internal battery is 2600 mAh and provides approximately 3 hours of operating time. The manufacturer’s specification states a longer battery life, but we have found that real world operating conditions use more power.
The climate of current regulations indicates that the battery is a back up and not a primary source of power. Most installations involve a cigarette plug in the cabin, which will accommodate the DC to DC adapter.
Some flight departments dictate that the EFB will be utilized for flight planning and “office interface” such as e-mail. The cigarette lighter adapter lends itself to this type of operational flexibility as opposed to the fixed Molex connection to the adapter.
