Equipment Description The FG-1620 series EFB is a Fujitsu P-1620 pen-based computer integrated and packaged by ADR for use in the cockpit. The available operating system is XP Tablet Edition. The device should be considered a laptop computer. All of the functionality found in a laptop is available on the EFB. This manual can be used for the FG-1620 only. For specifics on the FG-7000X, please refer to the manual for that device. While the FG-1620 and FG-7000X both utilize the same platform, hardware and software modifications make the FG-7000X a substantially different product. Most connectivity and power options will apply to both machines. The FG-7000X has preloaded drivers for the PCMCIA card, GPS and other peripherals that would need to be manually loaded on the FG-1620. Unique features to the FG-1620 unit are: Convertible Computer (Rotating Screen) The FG-1620 is a convertible computer that can operate as either a laptop or tablet PC. The screen opens as a clamshell laptop and can convert to a slate. The screen rotation allows for standard keyboard use or hiding of the keyboard for optimal cockpit human factors. The slipcase can house the unit in either closed clamshell or slate configuration. Transmissive Brightness Augmented Screen Technology Fujitsu has combined LED backlight technology with enhanced viewability screens to make a very low power daylight readable display. This screen is by far the most cockpit friendly design in a commercial device to date. The screen has enhancements for both viewing angle and contrast. The screen also has improved antiglare characteristics as compared to the FG-1610. Additionally, the FG-1620 is 100 NITS brighter than the FG-1610 ADR Custom Kneeboard and Standard Slipcase ADR offers both a standard and kneeboard slipcase. These cases are ADR designs that provide protection while keeping the unit as small as possible. The kneeboard includes leg-strap and knee isolation block.
