External DVD/RW Drive The USB DVD drive is used to update and load software onto the hard drive. Port Replicator The port replicator allows you to connect to the DC power jack, VGA, 2 USB and a LAN connection. This is used for making connections in an office environment. The port replicator is not for use in a cockpit. Serial Port Interface The FG-1620 utilizes a PCMCIA to dual 9-pin connector for serial devices. The connector comes out of the top of the device with 2 separate 9-pin dongles. The connections would typically be used for a GPS or weather input. Please see the Ports/Usage page for a complete list of com ports. ADR Modifications The FG-1620 is a standard computer manufactured by Fujitsu. No modifications are performed on this line of machine. Support ADR maintains a help desk for phone support of our EFB customers. We are continually updating and enhancing our products. The ability to contact ADR for technical support on issues such as initial electronic chart install, interface issues, 3rd party software installation and operational issues has been praised and utilized worldwide. Other 3rd Party Software The FG-1620 also functions as a laptop computer. Therefore, any software that will run on Windows 2000/XP will run on the EFB.
