Pin 2 and Pin 5 will be utilized for data in and ground. The EFB com port will need to be configured to the applicable port for the PCMCIA card. The program utilized for the GPS may include a configuration menu. Set up the menu to reflect the port and applicable GPS model used.
ARINC 429 Conversion
ADR and the Shadin Company offer an ARINC to serial converter. This unit has a TSO and is a proven system for converting GPS data from the FMS bus. One unit can supply 2 EFB units. This conversion allows for “listening” only from the FMS. Since the ADR FG series is an EFB Class II, we are not allowed to talk to the FMS. The Shadin install manual details the labels converted. ADR can supply the Shadin install manual if required.
The following diagram is the Shadin converter to FG diagram. Once the signal is converted, the inbound signal will be connected via the PCMCIA card. Please refer to the rest of the install manual for further installation details.
