“This year’s Convention clearly underscored two facts,” declared NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “First, in spite of the challenges confronting business aviation in the past two years, people and companies are optimistic and forward-looking.
“Second, the Convention continues to be a key part of that forward-looking vision, serving as the premier venue for bring-ing the industry together and advancing its interests.”

The expanded Careers in Business Aviation Day held during the third day of NBAA2010 drew hundreds of middle school, high school and college students, some affiliated with flight schools and youth organizations such as the Civil Air Patrol. Throughout the day, students learned about the many differ-ent career opportunities available in business aviation from special presenters. College students also attended a career seminar and lunch with NBAA staff and industry profession-als to encourage their interest in business aviation.
NBAA reached out to students and professionals alike through several other professional development efforts dur-ing 2010. For example, the Association’s scholarship pro-gram, generously supported through sponsorships, offered nearly $100,000 in cash awards as tuition reimbursement for enrolled students, a number nearly matched in monetary and training awards for working professionals like pilots, main-tenance professionals, schedulers, dispatchers and flight attendants.
The Association’s Professional Development Program (PDP) made strides through the release of updated PDP course-work objectives and the creation of an annual PDP Course Directory, which in 2010 listed 12 courses hosted by NBAA throughout the year in conjunction with Association semi-nars, and a total of 21 approved PDP providers.
Also recognized during 2010 were 25 individuals who had successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) exam during the previous year. This achievement identified them as professionals qualified to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft.
