For example, at the federal level, NBAA continued to encourage Congress to pass multi-year funding reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to acceler-ate the transition to a satellite-based air transportation system. The Association has long supported adjustments to the fuel tax to help fund aviation modernization, in lieu of new user fees, and the FAA reauthorization measures considered by Congress in 2010 reflected this priority.
prioritY on safetY In 2010, NBAA’s long-standing safety focus included expanded programs and events for Members. For example, the 55th Annual Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar attracted more than 400 attendees in 2010, and the 14th Annual Safety Standdown USA, which NBAA jointly sponsored with Bombardier, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board, saw record attendance of 700 and drew a waiting list for participation. |
