The global nature of business aviation was showcased at the 10th Annual European Business Aviation Convention & Ex-hibition (EBACE2010), an event that marked a decade of col-laboration between NBAA and the European Business Avia-tion Association. The three-day show – which underscored the essential role business aviation plays in supporting jobs, mobility and economic opportunity around the world – was sold out, drawing 11,174 Attendees, 436 Exhibitors and 65 aircraft to Switzerland’s Geneva International Airport.
The optimism evidenced at EBACE was one of the factors that led NBAA, along with the Asian Business Aviation Asso-ciation, to plan to re-launch the Asian Business Aviation Con-ference & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai, China in 2012.
NBAA also represented U.S. business aviation interests before international communities through its membership in the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), which en-abled participation in the International Civil Aviation Organiza-tion (ICAO) Triennial Assembly as the IBAC representative and participation in initiatives by ICAO Committee on Avia-tion Environmental Protection CAEP and its working groups.
NBAA also participated on ICAO North Atlantic Systems Planning Group working groups and provided input to RTCA, which provides recommendations regarding communica-tions, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system issues, among other efforts.
supporting regional neeDs
While the NBAA Convention remained the industry’s lead-ing event, the Association’s four Business Aviation Regional Forums held during 2010 provided local venues for Mem-bers to interact with their peers. These day-long learning and networking events – which were held in Teterboro, NJ; Houston, TX; Van Nuys, CA; and Chicago, IL – enabled aircraft operators not only to view aviation products and at-tend education sessions, but also to engage fellow aviation professionals, FAA officials and NBAA staff.
