B. Initialization and Alignment
AHRSinitialization andoperation occurs automatically whenelectricalpower is establishedandthe aircraftis stationary. Initialization in MAG modetakes about70 seconds. DG mode requires amuchlongertime toinitialize. Inflight,initialization requires straight, unacceleratedlevelflight. Theprimaryflightdisplays (PFD’s)present aflashinginitialization alignment message duringinitialization.
IRSinitialization takes about7 minutesat normaltemperature. The IRS requires that theinitialposition be enteredusingtheflight managementsystem(FMS). The primary flightdisplays (PFD’s)present aflashinginitialization alignment messageduring initialization. Upon successful alignment, the IRSwill automatically sequence into navigation mode. Attitudealignmenttakes 1minute or 34 seconds when switching fromnavigation to attitude mode,providedthe aircraftis stationary on the ground orin straightandlevelflight. <0025>
