D. Standby Magnetic Compass
The standby compassis independentanddoesnotinterface with othersystems. Itisa self containeddry compass which uses eddycurrentdampingtoprevent overshooting. Aminiature aircraftpointerindicates aircraftheading in relation tomagnetic north ona rotating vertical compass card. The compass can be illuminatedbyoperatingthe standby compass switch onthemiscellaneous lightspanel.
