The Grob SPn Utility Jet surprised some with its launch in mock-up at the Paris Airshow in June 2005 and a first flight just a month later. Certification and first deliveries are due in the first half of 2007. It is heavy for some VLJ definitions with a 6,300kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW).
At the other extreme, the Excel-Jet Sport-Jet is the smallest and cheapest in this list, with a single engine and perhaps aimed more at the general avia-tion, single-pilot operation in the US.
Embraer has set a certification target for their Phenom 100 of mid-2008, with a price of around 2.75M $US. The Phenom 100 will have a larger cabin than the other VLJs and promises to compete with entry level jets. Embraer is building a companion aircraft (Phenom 300) in the light jet category. While current-ly not a major manufacturer for business jets, Embraer is second globally in the production of regional jets.
